SP Streamers for Friday August 8th August 8, 2014  |  Justin Klein

As always Streamers are listed in the order which I would use them

Jose Quintana has been solid all season, yet he continues to be under appreciated in the fake game. Despite shoving to the tune of a 3.04 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 17 QS Jose is still available in 39% of Yahoo leagues. That’s a lower ERA and more QS than Strasburg and Bumgarner, who are also pitching on Friday. Bet you didn’t realize just how sharp Quintana has been all year! On Friday he’ll face the Mariners in the pitcher friendly confines of Safeco Field in Seattle. While Jose has never pitched in Seattle before, and he’ll face fellow ace Iwakuma, I still like this matchup for Jose and White Sox. If he’s available in your league you should pick him up and hold onto him for the rest of the season if he remains healthy.

Chris Tillman has quietly been very useful for the past 5-6 weeks and will have a soft matchup with the Cardinals on Friday. Yes the Cardinals are a soft matchup. Their offense is ranked 29th in the league in runs scored, RBI’s and HR’s. While Camden Yards is a hitter friendly park this matchup simply can’t be ignored. Available in 54% of Yahoo leagues Tillman should have a good shot at a win, solid ratios and a good amount of K’s. I’d stream him in any size league and use him in any DFS format where he’s decently priced. Go get him go getters.

Vance Worley seems to be dabbling in Cardinals style black magic, as he appears to have totally turned his career around of late. This is a pitcher that the Twins gave up on. The Minnesota frackin Twins. Come on now. While Worley is using smoke and mirrors, and possibly Cardinals style black magic, his numbers are much better than they should be. His ERA is more than a run lower than his FIP and almost a run and a half lower than his xFIP. So a correction is likely coming. That said his ERA should be 3.46 which is still plenty useful in fake baseball leagues. On Friday Worley and the Buccos will face the Padres at home in PNC Park. Not only have the Padres been historically terrible all season, but Worley has been superb in the 22 innings he’s pitched at PNC Park. This is a ridiculously good matchup on paper. It’s almost too good to be true. With Worley on the bump it very well could be, but I expect him to deliver the goods on Friday. Available in 80% of Yahoo leagues he’s likely out there if you need him. I would start him in any league and I would be all over him in DFS formats. When you find matchups like these you have to exploit them if you want to be profitable. Worley is probably the most +EV SP going on Friday. Let’s just hope Worley’s black magic doesn’t wear off and he doesn’t turn back into a pumpkin. Cross your fingers and get him in all of your lineups my fellow fake gamers.

Dual-Eligibility Pitchers

It’s easy to gloss over position eligibility when it comes to pitchers.  Starters and relievers are well delineated for the most part.  But in the words of a famous scientologist, “What about those who swing both ways? AC-DCs?”  Starting pitchers with reliever eligibility have sneaky value in some formats.  If ...

2017 Fantasy Baseball Rankings

Ranking players for fantasy baseball is a profoundly personal experience.  Unlike football, where all stats are translated into raw points, rotisserie baseball allows us to build rosters in a variety of ways en route to victory.  Rankings therefore become an expression of how the ranker prefers to draft his or ...
