There are many different views on stacking, such as do I use a 6-1-1 stack, a 4-2-2 stack, or even do I not stack at all? I personally am a strong believer in stacking, and will be going over three potential 4- and 6-man stacks for today’s games.
Toronto Blue Jays – The Blue Jays are one of the hottest teams in the MLB right now, and they aren’t likely to slow down today. Over the last week, they have recorded a .353 batting average with 30 extra-base hits and 66 runs. They are also a much better team at home, where their batting average rises .022 points. They have a bit more power at home as well, where they have a 1.52 HR/9 compared to a 1.27 HR/9 on the road. They get a great matchup against Alfredo Simon, who has an ugly 1.95 WHIP, .316 opponent batting average, and 8.29 ERA over his last 10 games. He has also allowed at least 4 runs in 8 of those 10 starts. The Blue Jays are ridiculous -212 favorites in a game set at 9.5 runs, and they can be used in all leagues.
4-Man Stack – Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, Troy Tulowitzki
6-Man Stack – Ben Revere, Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, Troy Tulowitzki, Russell Matin
Texas Rangers – The Rangers are another team that is in a great spot tonight. They get a matchup against Miguel Gonzalez, who has a 1.74 WHIP, .320 opponent batting average, and 6.60 ERA over his last 10 games. The Rangers dominated Gonzalez in their only start against him for 6 runs on 8 hits (3 home runs) in only 4.1 innings. The Rangers have also been hot over the last week with a .300 batting average, 20 extra-base hits, and 30 runs. They are a much more consistent and powerful offense at home, where they will be playing today. Texas is a -125 favorite in a game set at 9.5 runs, and they can also be used all leagues today.
4-Man Stack – Delino DeShields, Shin-Soo Choo, Prince Fielder, Adrian Beltre
6-Man Stack – Delino DeShields, Shin-Soo Choo, Prince Fielder, Adrian Beltre, Mitch Moreland, Elvis Andrus
Washington Nationals – The majority of the games today are set at 8 runs or higher, and the Nationals will likely go a bit overlooked. Their game is set at only 7 runs, but they are -246 favorites and they should be covering most of the spread. The Nationals have been a significantly better offense recently, which was expected, as they returned some of their big bats. Over the last week, they have a .289 batting average, 26 extra-base hits, and 40 runs. They have a few guys that crush left-handed pitching, and they get a great matchup against Brad Hand today. Hand has a 1.28 WHIP, .275 opponent batting average, and 4.23 ERA over 76.2 innings this season. I wouldn’t recommend using the Nats in cash games, but they are a high upside GPP option today.
4-Man Stack – Jayson Werth, Anthony Rendon, Bryce Harper, Ryan Zimmerman
6-Man Stack – Jayson Werth, Anthony Rendon, Bryce Harper, Ryan Zimmerman, Ian Desmond, Wilson Ramos
