Finally… We are back from the All-Star Break with a full slate of games to kick us off here for the weekend. The baseball gods knew we had a stretch of days off, because weather could not look better across the country. Reds/Yankees, Indians/Tigers, and both Sox games tonight have the highest score lines. I will be looking there for hitters tonight. Padres/Mets has a 6.5 total tonight, so Colon and Kennedy are excellent plays tonight.
Madison Bumgarner $8800 – Bumgarner has a noticeable H/A split this season, he allows a .262 wOBA on the road, and a .354 wOBA at home. That makes no sense to me for a guy pitching in San Francisco, but hey that is baseball. He is on the road in Miami tonight, and they are a middle of the road team vs. LHP this season. Bumgarner is striking out nearly a fourth of the hitters he has faced this season, and Miami is a high strikeout team, look for him to have one of the better lines tonight.
Ian Kennedy $7700 – Unless Kennedy gets traded before his start tonight, I am rostering him everywhere. His price at home vs. the Mets is an easy play for me tonight. He has a 0.86 ERA in 21 innings here in July, and he has a 9.6 K/9. Mets only have a .301 wOBA vs. RHP this season, and strikeout at a 20% rate. With a total of 6.5 tonight, Kennedy is my favorite option.
Andrew McCutchen $5200 – McCutchen left a lot of us in awe before we hit the break, with 7 XBH and 5 HR here in July. McCutchen has a .432 wOBA this season, vs. LHP and Jorge De La Rosa is really nothing special this year. He is allowing a .361 wOBA and a 14% HR/FB this season to RHB.
Jose Abreu $4400 – Not sure why anyone would pay for a player at first base when they have Abreu here. He has been the best power first baseman outside of Edwin Encarnacion this season. Scott Feldman is not the most intimidating of pitchers Abreu will face, RHB have a 22 LD% and a 13% HR/FB this season off Feldman. Abreu has that .416 wOBA and .344 ISO against RHP this season, and he is at home tonight where his power numbers soar.
Todd Frazier $4100 – David Phelps has allowed a .359 wOBA to RHB this season, and Frazier was crushing the ball up until the break. Phelps has allowed a 25 LD% to RHB as well. Frazier has a .377 wOBA against RHB this season, and a 17% HR/FB to go with that.
Brian McCann $2800 – Mike Leake has allowed a .374 wOBA to LHB this season, and the Yankee bats are in a good spot today in Cincinnati. I like McCann tonight behind the dish. I am not ready to pay up for Victor Martinez yet, with him coming back from injury. None of the other hitters behind the plate tonight really intrigue me.
