Darvish and Sale both on the hill tonight against teams they have dominated in their career. Tough choice to make tonight between the two. Weather looks great at the moment, no rain for any of the games in the forecast. With only a 4 game slate in the early contests, I will be skipping those today, with the bigger slate tonight. Ryan Braun and Joey Votto are two big names that will be out of the lineup tonight most likely. Votto is actually taking a trip to the DL again with the same quad strain.
Yu Darvish $11,400 – Darvish has thrown some absolute gems against this Houston team, and why no different at home tonight? He has a 3.14 xFIP and hitters have a 30 K% against Darvish this season. Houston has a 24% strikeout rate against RHP this season, and I am sure a double digit strikeout performance is in order today. With Chris Sale only being a $1,000 less, he could bump up a value play to a bigger name tonight.
Jason Hammel $7400 – Hammel is a guy I like for tonight that won’t break the bank. He is pitching his first game in Oakland, and he gets the Giants who have a .241 wOBA over the last 2 weeks. Hammel has struck out about a fourth of the hitters he has faced this season, and he has allowed a .276 wOBA.
Carlos Gomez $3700 – Gomez had a 3 hit game last night, with a double and a stolen base. This is the lowest price I have seen him at this season, and he has a .387 wOBA against RHP this year. Roberto Hernandez has been terrible on the road, allowing a .405 wOBA and he gives up a .352 wOBA 16% HR/FB to RHB this year.
Matt Adams $3400 – With the big guys on the hill tonight, Adams can provide some solid skill at a cheaper price. Brandon Cumpton has allowed a 37 LD% against LHB this year, and Adams is cruising as of late with 3 XBH and a HR over the last 7 days to go with hitting over .380. He has a .413 wOBA and a 170 wRC+ against RHP this season.
Jason Kipnis $3100 – Kipnis only at $3100 is a solid play tonight against Brandon McCarthy. He has allowed a .365 wOBA to LHB, and a 27 LD%. McCarthy has given up tons of HR this season, and a lot to LHB, with a 16% HR/FB.
Michael Brantley $3900 – So you know about McCarthy, but Brantley is a more proven hitter this season than Kipnis. I will be paying up for the Cleveland bat here tonight. He has a .411 wOBA against RHP, and has a 30 LD% as well. He is smoking the ball this season, and has a .428 wOBA at home.
