The DFS Daily Dozen 4/7/15
April 7, 2015 | Marcus Hall
Welcome to Tuesday’s edition of the DFS Daily Dozen. Today’s slate is a bit smaller than yesterday’s and is lacking in the star department at pitcher. All that means is that we’ve gotta do a little extra work to find some diamonds in the rough. If you’re picking anyone from Cardinals/Cubs, keep your eye on the weather there.
Zack Greinke – Yes, we all know that the Padres revamped their offense and they were able to score three runs off of Clayton Kershaw yesterday, I don’t think the Padres are good enough to rough up Zack Greinke though. Greinke’s been phenomenal at Dodger Stadium and I think that makes him the top play at pitcher tonight.
Mat Latos – Latos makes his Miami debut tonight. He’s had decent success against Atlanta, registering a 3.28 ERA over eight starts. However, it’s safe to say that those Atlanta teams were better than this current Atlanta team. Latos should do just fine tonight.
Matt Garza – I think a lot of people are going to see yesterday’s box score and get really amped on the Rockies. Good. Let them be amped. The Rockies never hit that well on the road and Garza should be able to bring them back to earth tonight.
Buster Posey – Posey’s usually the best catcher on the board on any night that he’s playing. Especially when he matches up against a weak pitcher, like he’s doing tonight.
Chris Davis – Davis goes up against Karns tonight, who could dazzle but I think Davis starts off his 2015 campaign right.
Ben Zobrist – I like Zobrist against Colby Lewis tonight. That’s it really.
Manny Machado – Machado had a very meh Opening Day. However, you’ve gotta love his price across the industry.
Brandon Crawford – If I had to stack a team today, it would probably be the Giants. Chase Field is very friendly to hitters, as is the Diamondbacks starter today, Rubby de la Rosa. Crawford did well on Opening Day and his price makes him a nice value play at short.
Giancarlo Stanton – I’m pretty sure it’s a rule that if Stanton’s going up against a lefty, you have to at least consider putting him in your lineup. Stanton hit .343 against LHP last season. Alex Wood doesn’t suck, but Stanton’s a monster.
Nelson Cruz – Cruz hit .314 against LHP last season and he goes up against C.J. Wilson who allowed righties to hit 75 points higher than lefties. Also, Wilson led the majors in walks allowed last season…
Austin Jackson – Jackson’s the lead-off man in Seattle and got his 2015 off to a nice start. Jackson gets C.J. Wilson tonight and Jackson had an OBP of .356 against LHP last season. I think with his friendly price-tag, he’s worth a look tonight.
