Fanduel Stacks of the Day – August 12th
August 12, 2017 | Bhillman42
Tonights main slate does not make me excited about pitching. If I were to choose three guys, I would probably go with Ryu, Hoffman, and (I know this is crazy) Jackson. Ryu because of his matchup against the strikeout happy Padres (team wOBA of 0.286), Hoffman because he is a much better pitcher on the road and the Marlins have been slumping (avoid Stanton), and Jackson mostly because the Giants have a team wOBA of 0.292 and Jackson has struck out 14 batters in his last two starts. Strictly use the last two guys in gpp’s! Hopefully you read up yesterday and stacked the Brew-Crew and Twins. Those guys went off for 10 and nine runs each with five combined home runs. The stacks tonight I have extreme confidence to roll with them in all formats:
With only seven total runs in their last three games, the Astros have not been running pitchers over as of late. Tonight is a new night and a new story as they faceoff against Tyson Ross who is awful against RHB:
VS RHBs: wOBA 0.406, slugging 0.516, 1.76 HR/9, 6.46 BB/9, 32.7% HC
The Astros have a ton of power from the right side and will be chomping at the bit to remove Ross as quickly as possible. Altuve, Springer, and Gurriel hit RHP at a steady clip with a lot of power. Springer finally hit a home run after being back from the DL last night. Altuve has been cold as of late…well the guy still has a five game hitting streak but he isn’t putting up the numbers. Hopefully people will be off of him tonight! Gurriel is always a guy to target against righties as he has hit 12 of his 15 home runs against RHP. Ross has been more difficult on lefties this year but that hasn’t always been in the case in his career. Marwin Gonzalez has a wOBA over 0.400 and ISO over 0.250 vs. righties. It will be very difficult to leave him out of your stack with those numbers. If you want to keep a RHB in your lineup, feel free to roll with Bregman as well but he is almost as much as Altuve on FD. Look for a nice turn around game from these guys tonight!
LOS ANGELES DODGERS
These guys were a bit of a disappointment last night. No worries needed. I feel like last time Chacin pitched I was writing him up to target when he was on the road. Statistically speaking, Jhoulys is a really good pitcher at home. He isn’t pitching at home and is on the road against the best team in baseball. Here are his stats on the road:
VS LHBs: 0.433 wOBA, 0.655 slugging, 2.73 HR/9, 4.10 BB/9, 39.1% HC
VS RHBs: 0.327 wOBA, 0.411 slugging, 0.94 HR/9, 3.14 BB/9, 23.8% HC
If you haven’t figured it out, I will be targeting lefties in this Dodgers lineup. Specifically Bellinger and Seager. These guys are both elite plays here at home against Chacin. The next guy I like isn’t a lefty but with a wOBA of 0.396 and ISO of 0.245, its very difficult to leave Taylor out of your lineups. Joc Pederson is a nice piece to finish off your stack as he is another lefty and has a home run against Chacin in seven career at bats (only $2.7k as well). Turner and Puig have both had success against the pitcher tonight so I am fine with you playing them. I am just all in on these lefties tonight for sure!
KANSAS CITY ROYALS
I bet you thought I forgot that James Shields was pitching on this slate? I am just saving the best for last here tonight. Home is where your heart is supposed to be, but for Shields, pitching at home has been ugly. I like the Royals lefties here in this lineup tonight but I am not opposed to using both sides of the plate:
VS LHBs: wOBA 0.447, slugging 0.675, 3.95 HR/9, 6.26 BB/9, 35.3% HC
VS RHBs: wOBA 0.303, slugging 0.421, 1.27 HR/9, 3.06 BB/9, 34.6% HC
I love the Royals here tonight, especially with Shields pitching at home. He obviously has his struggles more with lefties, but has control issues against both sides of the plate and giving up hard contact. Hosmer and Moustakas each have a home run against Shields and crush righties to begin with (Mouse with two bombs yesterday). Escobar is a righty but has had some solid success against Shields with five hits in 11 at bats. For his price of $2.5k, I really like Moss here for his home run upside and hitting from the left side as well. If you want some more pop instead of Escobar and another bat from the left side, fire up Melky. He has on a seven game hit streak with three multi-hit games and two home runs during that stretch. Enjoy the James Shields ride tonight!
