MLB DFS Value Plays: June 1st
June 1, 2016 | Matt Terelle
These are some of my favorite value plays for today across DraftKings and FanDuel. On most days I will try to outline one pitcher and four hitters who should be excellent values for the upcoming slate. Please note there isn’t a specific price cut off, instead, I will try to highlight players who should outperform their prices on a given day. Let’s get to today’s values.
Michael Fulmer (P) – Detroit Tigers
@ Los Angeles Angels
$7,500 DraftKings, $7,600 FanDuel
Fulmer, one of Detroit’s top pitching prospects, has acclimated himself nicely in the majors. Over his past two starts he’s only allowed one earned run and has notched 14 strikeouts. The Angels offense has gotten better as the year has gone on, but they are still 13th in the league in wOBA and just 25th in ISO when facing right-handed pitching . As long as Fulmer is careful with Mike Trout he should be in line for a good performance.
Carlos Correa (SS) – Houston Astros
vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (SP-Robbie Ray, LHP)
$3,600 DK, $4,000 FD
Correa’s price on DraftKings is going to be hard to pass up as he has a favorable righty-lefty matchup with Robbie Ray in Houston tonight. Correa, while his batting average is down some this year, still provides great power for a shortstop and is also a threat to steal a base. Robbie Ray, over his career, is allowing a .355 wOBA and .175 ISO to right-handed batters. Add in the fact that Ray is walking 4.50 batters per nine innings and Houston’s offense could have a big day.
Danny Valencia/Khris Davis (3B/OF) – Oakland A’s
vs. Minnesota Twins (SP-Pat Dean, LHP)
$2,900 DK, $3,200 FD (Valencia), $3,300 FD (Davis)
Valencia and Davis are both inexplicably just $2,900 on DraftKings. Valencia has continued his hot hitting last night, launching another home run. Davis himself has two home runs over the past seven days. Minnesota starter Pat Dean is a soft-tossing lefty who has pitched well so far in his first 21 major league innings. Consider me skeptical that he can keep it up. Both Davis and Valencia are excellent deals in a great spot this afternoon.
Michael Conforto (OF) – New York Mets
vs. Chicago White Sox (SP-Miguel Gonzalez, RHP)
DK $3,800, FD $3,300
Conforto has been scuffling a bit at the plate as of late, but White Sox starter Miguel Gonzalez is worth targeting with opposing bats whenever he takes the mound. The right-handed pitcher has a 4.35 SIERA on the year and it allowing 1.29 home runs per nine innings. Conforto has handled rigth-handed pitching well in his young career, posting a .392 wOBA and a .279 ISO.
Byung-ho Park (1B) – Minnesota Twins
@ Oakland Athletics (SP-Sean Manaea, LHP)
DK $3,200, FD $2,900
Park should be starting at DH today with Oakland sending a lefty to the mound. Sean Manaea, while being a highly-regarded prospect, has not pitched all that well in the majors thus far. Park has flashed a good deal of power upside in his first major league season, with nine home runs. Manaea, on the other hand, has been allowing 1.41 home runs per nine innings, with all of his homers allowed coming off right-handed bats.
