Lots of dominating pitching last night, and with Cueto, Kershaw, Gonzalez, and Teheran going tonight, should be another repeat night. Couple games to to target tonight, Seattle/Cleveland, Toronto/Houston, and Arizona/Pittsburgh. Those should be the higher scoring games tonight, and they definitely have less caliber pitching on the hill. With the heavier slate in the evening, that will be my main focus here today.
Early Birds: Drew Smyly, Victor Martinez, Anthony Rizzo, Jedd Gyorko, Starlin Castro, Austin Jackson, Seth Smith
Clayton Kershaw $12,100 – Atlanta has been in a slump offensively with just a .304 wOBA over the last 2 weeks. Braves have a 24% K against LHP, and Kershaw is the filthiest of them all. He has allowed a .226 wOBA and has a 33% K. At home tonight he is easily worth paying up for.
Gio Gonzalez $9,000 – Gio is the next price down, and he has a real nice matchup tonight against the Phillies. They have a 22% K against LHP, and they struggle on the road. Gonzalez has allowed a .276 wOBA at home this season, and 9.4 K/9 this season.
Paul Goldschmidt $4,400 – Goldy always jumps to the top of my list when he faces a lefty. He has a .475 wOBA and a .214 ISO against LHP, and has a .429 wOBA here in July. If you are paying up for one fielder, make it Goldy.
Jayson Werth $4,100 – Cliff Lee has given up 21 hits since returning from the DL. The Nationals are a good lefty hitting team, and I don’t think it gets an easier for Lee on the road tonight. Werth has a .427 wOBA against LHP, and he has a .367 average with 2 XBH and 2 HR.
Jason Kipnis $3,900 – Chris Young has not been a pitcher to pick on at home, but on the road he allows a .347 wOBA. He is a fly ball pitcher, and it could be dangerous against this Cleveland lineup. Most of his HR he has given up have been on the road, safe to say pitching in Safeco has helped him a lot.
Adam Jones $4,400 – Jones is another lefty crusher, and him and his teammate Nelson Cruz are solid plays tonight against Tyler Skaggs. He has a .503 wOBA and .327 ISO. He has been on a tear with a few HR in the last few games.
GPP Plays: Yordano Ventura, Steve Pearce, Robinson Cano, Lonnie Chisenhall, Alex Gordon.
