Top 5 (value) Hitters for 4.15.15
April 15, 2015 | Justin Klein
Martin Prado is a nice value play today, as he is only $3800 on DK and $3000 on FD. He also qualifies at both 2B and 3B on DK. Martin has a solid history against Eric Stults, the left handed pitcher that he’s facing today. In 26 at bats against him he has 10 hits including 2 doubles, a triple and a home run good for a slash line of .385/.414/.654. Not only that, but Martin tends to hit LHP well in his career, as he has hit them up with a slash of .294/.361/.461. Last but not least Prado will be batting cleanup for the Marlins today, behind some guy named Stanton and in front of Morse and Ozuna. Get him in your lineups!
Carlos Ruiz is a great value play today as he has a solid history against Jonathon Niese. In his career against Niese, Ruiz has notched 10 hits, including 2 doubles and a home run in 29 at bats while slashing .345/.424/.517. While the lineup isn’t out yet, Carlos will likely be hitting second as he has been for much of the season. When you combine the positive history against the opposing starting pitcher and a likely good lineup placement with the fact that Ruiz is only $3200 on DK and we have a good amount of value on our hands.
Ryan Raburn is a solid value play today as he is hitting 6th for the Indians and starting at DH. Raburn has a very nice history against LHP John Danks. In 42 at bats against him in his career Ryan has 14 hits including 5 doubles and 3 home runs. Ryan has fared well against LHP in his career as well, as he has slugged .469 against them. The best thing about Raburn today in the fake game is that he is dirt cheap with a price tag of only $2900 on DK and $2400 on FD. He is a solid option and is cheap enough to help bolster the rest of your lineup.
Jake Smolinski gets the start in RF and will be hitting 5th for the Rangers today at home in Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Jake has only 4 at bats against the Angels’ Hector Santiago but he has 3 hits including a double and a home run. While it’s a tiny sample size Jake has crushed LHP in his brief MLB career to the tune of a .400/.464/.720 triple slash. Granted, that is a small sample size. Luckily for us Jake is nice and cheap today as he’s only $3600 on DK and $2800 on FD. Get him in your lineups and I’ll see you in Value Town.
Kelly Johnson has a history of success against Dan Haren as he has 15 at bats against him and has logged 6 hits, 5 of which were doubles. Although Johnson does not have a history of hitting well against RHP I love his batting slot of 5th in the Braves lineup and I can’t ignore his price tag. He’s just $3000 on DK and $2200 on FD. Although it’s a tiny sample size I like Johnson as a cheap option to roster along with aces and expensive bats.
And a bonus hitter that is not cheap because I’m in a good mood and it’s Jackie Robinson day:
Adrian Beltre has faced Hector Santiago 15 times in his career and he has 6 hits against him including a double and 3 home runs. In his career against LHP Adrian has smashed them to the tune of .289/.362/.485. Last but not least Adrian loves hitting at home at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington where he has hit .330/.376/.570 (!) in his career. Even though he’s expensive as he’s $5300 on DK I think he delivers in a big way today.
